Tanjung Tuan, located at the border of Melaka and Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan, is one of the last coastal forest on the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia. It was gazetted under Melaka State government as a Wildlife Sanctuary in 1971. It was previously gazetted as a permanent forest reserve in 1921 with more than 98 hectares. However, the reserve was excised for development, leaving a Virgin Jungle Reserve established in 1953 with the present area of 60 hectares. Birdlife International designated Tanjung Tuan Forest Reserve as an Important Bird and Biodiversity Area.
